In the event of a power outage, the battery backup powers the CO detector so it can continue to monitor your home for dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.
Simple and easy to use
Once the alarm has been installed, remember to test it regularly using the test button and change the batteries at least twice a year. A low‑battery alert will remind you when the batteries need to be replaced, and an end‑of‑life signal will alert you when the carbon monoxide detector has reached the end of its life and it's time to replace it. It’s important to replace your carbon monoxide alarm at least every seven years to help ensure continued detection.
