Communities Coming Together

First Alert, Campus Firewatch and the Michael H. Minger Foundation are partnering to provide 100 alarms to 25 departments and universities across the country.

About the Town/Gown Fire Safety Community Service Project:

First Alert, Campus Firewatch and the Michael H. Minger Foundation are partnering with fire departments and universities across the country to raise awareness about fire safety among students and community members. We invite you to apply to be a part of our 2019 program.

The goal of this project is to get students working alongside firefighters to conduct home safety visits and install First Alert smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. By conducting these home safety visits, students are helping to make their communities safer and learning fire safety at the same time.

First Alert will be donating 10-year sealed battery smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to 25 departments to utilize during these safety visits. Campus Firewatch and the Michael H. Minger Foundation will also provide guidance on setting up a home safety visit program, if needed.

We did a series of successful programs across the nation in 2017 and 2018. Check out this video to see what students from Colorado State University Fort Collins and the Poudre Fire Authority did to help out their community.
