Carbon monoxide gas is generated by many common household appliances such as water heaters. Theresa Hutchison experienced this first hand when her hot water heater's exhaust pipe malfunctioned and filled her house with the deadly gas. Theresa had a headache, a common symptom, she figured was a result of a stressful day - until her CO alarm began beeping.
