High Tech Meets High Style

Following in the footsteps of flat-screen TVs, razor thin laptops and integrated household appliances, First Alert, the most trusted name in residential fire and carbon monoxide (CO) detection, has introduced a new series of alarms that marries high tech with high design. Measuring less than one inch thick, the sleek new series of First Alert Maximum Protection Smoke Alarms and Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms feature minimalist, non-intrusive designs while also providing the highest levels of protection from the threats of fire and carbon monoxide.

“In the case of our Maximum Protection alarms, big things really do come in small packages,” said Deborah Hanson, director of external affairs for First Alert. “At half the size of standard alarms, this new series includes sleek, contemporary models that reflect today’s trend toward more streamlined profiles and blend beautifully into any home decor.”

Vast departures from their bulkier counterparts, First Alert’s new Maximum Protection alarms are ultra-thin and weigh just over half a pound. The battery-operated alarms slide easily into an enhanced mounting bracket, which can be installed discretely on either a wall or a ceiling.

The Maximum Protection alarms also feature breakthrough anti-nuisance technology to help prevent dangerous, but frequent, alarm deactivations due to battery removal. In case of false alarms, a mute button will temporarily silence alarm activation.

“Nuisance alarms that sound despite the lack of any danger are more than just an annoyance,” Hanson said, “they tie up fire department resources and may lead people to ignore the early warnings of an alarm or remove the alarm’s batteries completely. As the most trusted name in home safety*, we set out to create an alarm that not only looked good, but also helped eliminate any reason for deliberate alarm deactivation that may leave a home open to danger.”

The alarms also are equipped with a Power LED and Alarm Indicator to quickly and easily check the alarm’s operating status and meet the highest level of national alarm recommendations for end-of-life signal alerts. In addition, some models also offer a Voice and Location feature, which alerts residents with a loud, pre-recorded and tamper-proof human voice to the threat of smoke or carbon monoxide, as well as the specific location of the hazard within the home.

“We designed this series based on feedback from architects, interior designers and homeowners seeking alarm options that offer superior performance and pleasing aesthetics,” added Hanson. “With our Maximum Protection alarms, best-in-class safety never looked so good!”

The Maximum Protection Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms offer a seven year warranty, and the Smoke Alarms offer 10 years of warranted protection. The new alarms are available through mass merchants, hardware stores and home centers nationwide.
